5 Ways To Perform At Ignite Day

Ignite Day is a one day occasion that brings the youth together for local and global change. At the event, we will address key social issues, and have motivational, inspirational segments that charges the youth to take action with their future careers.

The Charles Clark What Matters Foundation would like to formally invite students to perform in our upcoming Ignite Day. This event will be the biggest, most prevalent inspiring event in the Hampton Roads organized by the youth and young adults. This free school event will be focus towards middle and high school students. The 15 public schools that have partnered with What Matters Foundation are exclusively invited to Ignite Day. Over 1,300 Students and administrator will be in attendance this January 24, 2015 at the Sandler Center.

The categories students have the opportunity to perform or participate in are listed below.

1. Dance Group Performance

This category is for students to perform a live dance at the opening of Ignite Day. The dance group will consist of 3-6 students performing to “10 Feet Tall” by Afrojack.

Schools must send an email confirming their entry song no later than November 12th. The students will create a music video (2 minutes long) prior to the event and submit it to events@whatmattersfoundation.org. The deadline for all the entries will be on December 3, 2014 and the list of the finalists will be announced on December 20th.

2. Music Video Contest

The students will create a music video illustrating the expression of the titles “Just the Way You Are” and/or “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made”.  The entries must use one of the songs listed below.

  • “You & I” by John Legend
  • “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars
  • “Love Me Again” by John Newman

Please make sure to incorporate your school in the video. All videos must be submitted on Youtube and the finalists will have a public vote to finalize the winners. Email events@whatmattersfoundation.org your entire. The deadline for all the entries will be on December 3, 2014. Voting will begin on December 7th and the winners will be announced on December 20th.

3. Props & Staging

We are interested in each school to participate in props and staging for Ignite Day segments. The students will decorate the stage using the segments listed below:

  • “Just the Way You Are”
  • “World Changer”
  • “Life Hurts Sometimes”

A photo or video of their work must be submitted prior to the event to events@whatmattersfoundation.org. The deadline for all the entries will be on December 3, 2014 and the list of the finalists will be announced on December 20th.

4. Student Inspire Piece (Testimonials)

Each student must submit a two minute long testimonial video of a difficult time they experienced in their life and address the lessons they learned from it. At the end, we will select three students and they will share their stories live at Ignite Day.

All testimonials must be submitted to events@whatmattersfoundation.org. The deadline for all the entries will be on December 3, 2014 and the list of the finalists will be announced on December 20th.

5. World Changers Contest

We are interest in having a The World Changers Contest for students to demonstrate their talents. This contest will include the categories listed below:

  • Singer
  • Dancer
  • Host

Each student will submit a video illustrating why they should be selected for the best talent. The videos must be submitted to events@whatmattersfoundation.org. The deadline for all the entries will be on December 3, 2014 and the list of the finalists will be announced on December 20th.

All students or schools must send an email confirming their entry song no later than November 12th. Please included school name, student names, and contest you wish to enter.

This will be a wonderful experience for the students to cooperatively display their talents in front of a supportive group live at Ignite Day in front of thousands of World-Changers. We are pleased to provide any additional information upon your request and look forward to hearing from you soon.

    I was wondering why is there nothing about poetry. I think poetry expresses more than actions and it should be added.
